Town centre mixed-use renewal

The plight of high streets and town centres came to the political fore with Chancellor Philip Hammond’s Autumn Budget speech. He recognised town centres as the heart of communities, for all the services, facilities and functions that they support.

The challenge presented to town centres, and particularly the retail businesses that remain, has arguably never been tougher. New and innovative solutions are urgently required for centres that are struggling and in decline; not only for the businesses there, but also the communities that rely so heavily on them and the property owners who have vested interests in their survival.

Town centres need to adapt, evolve and be re-shaped. A package of measures to support renewal and a wider range of uses, particularly for residential and workspaces have been announced. However, commitment from stakeholders and partnership between the public and private sector are seen by Turley as two key fundamentals to delivering the change which many centres now require.

We have an enviable track record as expert advisors and in formulating solutions to achieve successful mixed-use redevelopment in and around town and city centres. This is at the heart of what we do. We can bring together expertise from our specialist Planning, Heritage, Economics, Sustainability, Design and Strategic Communications teams and the local knowledge from our 13 offices.

We have helped to shape and deliver many projects across this sector. The breadth of our experience is shown below.
