Turley strengthens team with new Environmental Impact Assessment Director appointment
We have strengthened our commitment to Net Zero Infrastructure with the strategic appointment of a new Director to our growing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team.
Alan Pearson joined us on 2 June 2025 and will be based in Bristol, supporting teams across the entire business. His appointment reflects our commitment to shaping a resilient, low-carbon built environment and leading conversations on net zero infrastructure, underpinned by our EIA team’s growing expertise and established track record in supporting carbon capture, sustainable aviation fuel, battery energy storage systems, and onshore wind projects.
He brings an established profile and deep delivery experience in the offshore wind sector, having led consenting strategies and managed large, multi-disciplinary teams across both onshore and offshore environments. His work includes significant expertise in securing Development Consent Orders for complex infrastructure projects.
In addition to bolstering our EIA team’s capabilities, Alan’s role will see him contribute across the wider business, offering expertise in the delivery of complex consenting strategies for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
Andrew Malcomson, Director and Head of EIA, said:
"Alan’s experience across offshore and nationally significant infrastructure projects will be invaluable as we continue to support clients on the delivery of critical Net Zero infrastructure projects. His appointment also marks an exciting next step in our investment to grow our EIA leadership across the country."
Alan Pearson, Director of EIA, said:
“There couldn’t be a more exciting time to be joining Turley. The need for robust, future-focused environmental planning has never been greater, particularly as we accelerate the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure to support the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.
“Turley offers the ideal environment to make a meaningful impact, combining a collaborative culture, integrated expertise, and strong reach across the UK and Ireland. I’m excited to help grow the EIA team and support the wider success of the business.”
Working alongside Nicola Riley (Senior Director, Net Zero Infrastructure), Andrew Malcomson (Director, Head of EIA) and Andy Ricketts (Strategic Director, EIA), Alan will support our growing portfolio of net zero infrastructure clients and further enhance our market-leading EIA practice.
His appointment coincides with the addition of a new Assistant Consultant to the EIA team in London, further establishing our presence in the capital. These appointments bring our EIA team to 14, reinforcing our capability and reach in delivering expert environmental advice for complex and nationally significant development projects.
