Landmark new police buildings in Northamptonshire
Our role
- We advised on planning strategy, stakeholder engagement and co-ordinated the submission of two full applications - one for a new Police Investigation Centre and one for a Northern Accommodation Hub.
- Our role included taking a lead on pre-application discussions with Kettering BC, co-ordinating a multidisciplinary technical team and negotiating on planning matters, including planning conditions through to a successful conclusion.
- Our role formed part of a wider estate strategy aimed at enabling the highest standards of policing to be delivered for the 21st century.
Results
- The new headquarters facility is an attractive landmark building and it achieves the highest standards of sustainable design and energy efficiency. It accommodates c.300 staff and provides a range of operational, training, staff welfare and administrative functions including the area’s rapid response unit.
- The Police Investigation Centre on the adjoining site provides a secure facility to detain and investigate people arrested by the police on suspicion of committing an offence.
- Both projects are now fully operational.
