My work anniversary in our company’s 40th year - Emma Banks, Business Support Executive, South Support

During our 40th year, we are highlighting the experience and insights of co-owners who are also celebrating their milestone work anniversaries.

In 2023, Turley is marking our 40th year. We are an employee-owned business. This makes us distinctive because each employee is a co-owner, with a voice and share in our success. We are invested in each other and in the communities in which we work.

What inspired you to join Turley? 

I was inspired by Turley’s company culture because co-ownership creates an ‘in this together ethos’ and provides the opportunity to have your say.

What are the highlights of your role? What do you particularly enjoy?

Within the support team I enjoy providing go-to and trustworthy support to our fee earners to ensure they can do their day job as smoothly as possible. The role is varied, and no day is the same. I enjoy helping with organising events and formatting reports to bring out my creative side.

How has your role changed over the time you have been with Turley?

My role has changed significantly over the last five years. It has developed from being on the reception desk, providing refreshments for meetings, along with day-to-day administration tasks, to being part of a wider ‘south support team’. My works includes assisting with financial processes, supporting a company strategic team, arranging wider company events, and most recently line managing a new member of our team.

What has kept you at Turley? What makes Turley a special place to work?

I think what has kept me at Turley is the company culture, a friendly working environment and a good relationship with my line manager and support team, along with the opportunities to take on new responsibilities and progress my career further.

What are you looking forward to in Turley’s 40th year?

It will be nice for the company to reflect on how far it has come, and to spur on future progression. I’m looking forward to celebrating this with my co-owners, along with attending a volunteering day that is an aspect of our company 40th anniversary celebrations.
