Helen Moreton will lead the trust, which holds our ownership shares and acts in the interest of beneficiaries – our co-owners. Helen brings over 20 years of experience in the employee-owned sector, 18 of which were spent at John Lewis Partnership in a variety of independent and strategic roles. Her role will focus primarily on providing insight and perspective to inform decision making for the benefit of the trust.
The trust was established as part of our co-ownership structure, which was created in 1996. With no private or public shareholders, our profits are shared with co-owners, fund our Charitable Trust, and are invested back into the business to aid further growth. We currently have 238 co-owners across our 14 offices.
Alongside her role at Turley, Helen works with several other employee-owned businesses in a chairing, coaching, advisory and training capacity. She replaces Morag Ellis QC who reached the end of her four-year term as chair director earlier in the year.
Speaking about her appointment, Helen said:
“Turley’s focus on authentic, sustainable, and inclusive growth, alongside the distinctive attributes its people all commit to, are deeply important. Doing work of meaning is of great importance to me and I truly believe that employee-ownership is a better, fairer and more resilient way of doing business. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and working with the Turley team.”
Senior director, HR, Chrysta Poppitt added:
“Our structure helps frame our everyday approach to business. We all share in our accomplishments, with each co-owner participating in the success of our company. We are thrilled to welcome Helen to Turley Trustees Limited and look forward to benefitting from her breadth of knowledge and experience in employee-ownership.
“We would also like to thank Morag Ellis QC, whose support and contributions over the last four years have been instrumental in helping us create a co-ownership structure that truly puts our people first.”
