Turley and Richborough Estates secure consent for up to 200 new homes in Nuneaton
We have secured a resolution to grant permission for a new residential site to the east of Higham Lane in Nuneaton, on behalf of strategic land company Richborough Estates.
Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council’s planning committee approved the proposal for the delivery of up to 200 family homes – constituting 2, 3 and 4-bed properties, 50 of which will be affordable – on the site, which is two miles from the town centre.
Located to the north of the existing Milby residential area and adjacent to the A5, the site will create a new neighbourhood of family homes, alongside public open spaces and a play area.
A combination of existing and proposed amenities, including new schools and a local centre at the nearby Calendar Farm and Top Farm schemes, are all within walking distance of the site.
The consent is subject to the completion of a Section 106 Agreement and Richborough Estates is making a contribution of nearly £4 million for local infrastructure improvements.
This will include improvements to the local road network, bus provision, local schools, the George Elliot Hospital, and local sports provision.

At the time of submission in December 2017, the site was unallocated for development in the emerging Borough Plan, however we worked closely with the council during the Borough Plan examination to demonstrate that the site presents a sustainable location for residential development.

Richborough Estates and Fox Bennett will now bring the site to market in order to find a development partner to deliver the new neighbourhood. Work is expected to commence on site no later than autumn 2019.
Nuneaton train station in the town centre provides connections to destinations across the country, while the A5 – which links to the M42 at Tamworth and the M69 at Burbage - runs across the northern edge of the site, providing superb access to the national motorway network.
