Permission secured for 77 new serviced apartments in Cardiff

Acting on behalf of Drake Walk Ltd, Turley has secured a resolution to grant for new serviced apartments in Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff.

The site had previously received a resolution to grant planning permission for a student accommodation development which is now redundant. Working with Drake Walk Ltd, the prospective operator and Cardiff Council, we have successfully repurposed the historic resolution. The application was approved by Cardiff Council on 19 August 2020.

We provided expert Planning support for the project, a 6-storey building which will provide 77 serviced apartments in an accessible city centre location, adjacent to the Waterfront Office Park and Dock Feeder Canal at Atlantic Walk. The sustainable development will also include ground floor commercial and co-working space for residents.

Owen Francis, Director said:

“Building on existing strong relationships with the Major Development Team at Cardiff Council, we worked with Drake Walk Ltd to deliver a positive outcome in excellent time. This is a fantastic project to be involved in and we’re looking forward to working with the client to deliver it as quickly as possible.

"With a host of student schemes currently not coming forward across Cardiff, this success highlights the importance of working quickly and pragmatically to re-purpose such development sites.”
