Growth for Turley’s Sustainability team with appointment of new Director

We have strengthened our Sustainability team with the appointment of Barny Evans as Director, Svetlana Cronin as a Senior Consultant and Millie Brill as a Consultant.

Our 18-strong team, which works with clients such as institutional investors and major blue chip development companies, helps clients advance their approach to delivering net zero buildings and ESG strategies.

Barny joins from WSP where he led a Sustainability team before focusing on Net Zero. With more than 17 years’ experience, Barny has worked on net zero strategies for organisations like BT, the West Midlands Combined Authority and Aberdeen Standard Investments, as well as leading new development in the UK and internationally.

His work in the sector has included research papers, which anticipated and advocated for change in regulation, policy and technological adoption that has improved the sustainability of the property sector in recent years.

Svetlana also joins from WSP. She brings five years’ experience leading and supporting on sustainability projects. Millie joins from Circular Ecology where her time as a Sustainability Analyst saw her analysing current emissions and working with organisations to reduce this.

The appointments signify a period of growth for our Sustainability team and a continued investment in the service to ensure full coverage across the UK to help meet clients’ environmental agendas.

Speaking about the appointments, Colin Morrison, Senior Director, Sustainability, said:

“When I joined Turley 11 years ago to establish the Sustainability team I always believed there was a fantastic opportunity to grow a market leading service and I have been proved right. We are now able to attract the calibre of individuals such as Barny, Svetlana and Millie and I look forward to supporting the team in the next phase of our strategic growth plans.”

Head of Sustainability, James Blake said:

“The appointments to our team come at a time of sustained growth as clients seek answers to increasingly complex sustainability challenges. As the effects of the climate emergency continue to unfold, we’ve seen a real increase in demand from clients across the country looking for specialist advice on how their developments can lead the way in building a greener built environment.

“Barny, Millie and Svetlana’s experience and knowledge will be huge assets for the team and I’m delighted to welcome them.”

Barny added:

“Having spent close to 20 years in the environmental sector I’ve seen first-hand the changes that the development industry has begun to make to mitigate climate challenges.

“My recent focus on net zero allowed me to develop a lot of the innovative thinking around the future of smart net zero systems, working with developers to reduce costs, increase revenue and crucially reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“I’m excited to join Turley’s market leading Sustainability team and work with its hugely diverse range of clients to help them adapt to, and navigate the complexities of developing sustainably.”
