Green light for Birmingham’s tallest Build to Rent scheme

Acting on behalf of Court Collaboration, we have secured a resolution to grant planning permission for ‘One Eastside’, a luxury residential-led scheme in Birmingham’s city centre.

We provided expert Planning, Development Viability, Economics and Sustainability services for the scheme which was approved by Birmingham City Council on 5 December. With two towers, one at 16 storeys and the tallest standing at 51 storeys, One Eastside will be the tallest residential building in Birmingham.

The scheme will bring significant benefits to the city including boosting the supply of housing to meet Birmingham’s vision for sustainable growth, whilst providing high quality and well managed built to rent accommodation. The development will also contribute substantial economic benefits, creating jobs and investment in the regeneration of an underdeveloped brownfield site.

Alongside 667 one and two bedroom apartments, the proposals also include on-site recreation, sport and leisure facilities including a gym, cinema, yoga and games room, a rooftop sky lounge and roof terrace and residential gardens.

Associate Director at Turley, Neal Allcock said:

“We are thrilled with Birmingham City Council’s decision to provide a resolution to grant for the proposals. This landmark development in a prestigious city centre location will enhance Birmingham’s skyline and will set the standard for new tall buildings in the city. Not only will the high quality apartments provide a greater choice for renters, the onsite facilities will encourage better health and well-being. We’re looking forward to work commencing on the development.”

Antony McCourt, Director, Court Collaboration said:

“We’re delighted with the council’s decision to grant planning permission for One Eastside and we hope to be able to confirm a start on site date in the near future. Birmingham is going through some incredibly exciting changes and this ambitious scheme will keep Court Collaboration at the very forefront of modern city living, sustainable design and innovative construction."
