Alder Hey Hospital nominated for Building of the Decade

Turley is delighted that Alder Hey Hospital has been nominated for the People's Choice - North West Building of the Decade.

BBC North West Tonight viewers were asked to vote for their favourite modern building constructed in the last 10 years and Alder Hey won the Merseyside category to make the grand final.

We were part of the team to deliver the replacement hospital at Alder Hey which is the biggest and busiest children’s hospital in Europe. We provided expert advice on planning, Environmental Impact Assessment and heritage matters.

Opened in 2015, the ‘hospital in the park’ has play areas on every ward, extensive gardens and spiritual areas for quiet contemplation; it provides 275,000 episodes of care to children and young people every year.

Sam Ryan, Director at Turley said:

“We’re proud to have been involved in a project which provides vital care to children; the hospital, designed by BDP, sits beautifully within the landscape, and is an iconic development for the city. The nomination is very well deserved and we will be keeping our fingers crossed for the results of the vote.”

Voting in the category took place on 17 and 18 April, the grand final winner will be announced on Thursday 17 May at the Insider North West Property Awards. We wish Alder Hey the best of luck.

Turley is also shortlisted in the Insider North West Property Awards. Congratulations to our northern team on being selected in the Planning Team of the Year category.
